The OG Story

The OCI Guides are founded by Jesse and Ave, two former Bay Street lawyers with two separate journeys into the legal profession. Despite their differences, both Jesse and Ave have come across the many challenges that law students face throughout the legal recruiting process, including feeling overwhelmed with the initial application phase, uninformed of best networking practices, surprised as to the lack of interview preparation, stressed when scrutinizing over each email, dejected when being let down by a desirable firm and of course, anxious when contemplating the all important “you are my first choice”. Now, they have established this company to assist law students with the navigation of the legal recruit. The OCI Guides know how difficult it is to get a job in the legal profession and are here to guide you each and every step of the way.

Why Choose Us?

The OGs met as work colleagues in the summer of 2017. Having been involved in the recruitment process from the perspective of an applicant, articling student and lawyer, Ave and Jesse have gained invaluable experience on how to help students best present themselves to recruiters, lawyers, and student committee members. More importantly, they come with a fresh perspective that is authentic, unbiased, unfiltered and honest. Ave and Jesse have the experience to assist you in achieving your professional goals and are available to provide guidance and insight at your convenience. After the OGs left private practice, they decided to form this company with one goal in mind:

Help law students stand out, achieve their goals and find their right fit
